8th March is internationally celebrated as the “International Women’s Day”. It is an important occasion for all of us to pause for a moment to reflect on ourselves, to appreciate how much has been done and what more needs to be done in the field of gender equality. Moreover, it is the day to acknowledge all the men and women in the world for making this world a better place for everyone to live in.
On the very next day (march9/2018), we, at SNSCE organized many events. The program would not have been a great success without the help of the Staff, students and Management.
The day’s program started off by Wealth out of Waste in which the students bought their innovative ideas by turning the waste things in to a useful product. One such idea is that, they have made paper bags, chairs using bottle caps and sticks and many more. Pavithra and team from III year CSE secured First place and Kavya Dharshini and team from III CSE secured second place.

Students were highly enthusiastic in displaying their talent on drawing intricate, popular and latest designs. The timing was Half an Hour. They bought all their creativity in a single hand. Sujitha from III CSE secured First place and Pooja Shree from II CSE secured second place.

In this, many minds linked with their hearts and bought a colourful and good theme in their painting. They have used decorative items like chumkies to make their pot more attractive. The duration was half an hour. Sofia &Team from III CSE won first prize, Sherin & team from III CSE won second prize.

Here, the students bought the artificial nails and decorated and some done it in their nails. Moreover, everything was quite fascinating to have a look. The duration was half an hour. R. Dharani & team from I-CSE won first prize, N. Jaishree & team from I-ECE won second prize.

In this, the girls did a variety of hair styles. They also made use of different hair clippers and hair designs of different culture both eastern and western. The duration was half an hour. Dharshini.T from II-CIVIL won first place and Nisha from I-ECE won second place.

Dance to Tune
In this, the songs were played on the spot and students have to dance to the tune. Here most of the girls exposed their talent in dancing and the songs were played for nearly 2 minutes. The duration was for two hours. Sandra Chandran from III CSE won first place and Vijaya Sangavi from III CSE won second place.

In this, the students who participated in more than one event were selected as nominee. Seven Nominees were selected. And they conducted a series event. Initially, they questioned each student regarding women. And they made this selection more complex by conducting action rounds, ramp walk. The staff allocated marks for each nominee, also they asked the audience their suggestions. Lastly, Suneka C from III ECE was awarded the “Princess of SNSCE”.

The purpose of organizing such occasion is not just to observe the day but also to create awareness amongst the students and also with the target of reaching the parents and people in the community at large through the students. “Women are leaders everywhere you look — from the CEO who runs a Fortune 500 company to the housewife who raises her children and heads her household.
